What SwarDB is

SwarDB (swardb.com) is a free reference database of Indian film music — songs, films, singers, lyricists, and music directors. It does not require an account, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from visitors beyond what's described below.

Information we collect

Server logs

Like most websites, our server automatically logs standard technical information for each request, including IP address, browser type, and pages visited. We use this only for security, abuse prevention, and diagnosing problems — never to build a profile of individual visitors.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (e.g. which pages are popular). Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as your approximate location, device type, and browsing behavior on this site. This data is processed by Google according to the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

YouTube embedded videos

Song pages may embed YouTube videos (original tracks, karaoke versions) using YouTube's standard embedded player. When you view a page with an embedded video, YouTube (Google) may set cookies and collect data about your interaction with the player, whether or not you click play. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and the YouTube Terms of Service, not by SwarDB. We do not control what YouTube/Google does with this data.

reCAPTCHA

The "Report an error" correction form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA v3, which runs in the background to distinguish human visitors from automated bots. reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information (such as device and application data) and sends it to Google for analysis, governed by the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Corrections you submit

If you use the "Report an error" form, we store what you submit (the correction itself, an optional name if you choose to give one, and your IP address) so we can review and apply it. We do not use this information for any purpose beyond improving the database, and we do not sell or share it with third parties.

Chat / search assistant

If you use the on-site "Ask about songs, singers, films" feature, your question is logged on our server and sent to a third-party AI service to generate a response. Don't include personal or sensitive information in a query.

What we don't do

  • We don't require registration or accounts.
  • We don't sell personal data.
  • We don't run advertising networks or ad-tracking pixels.

Data from third-party sources

Song, film, and artist metadata is compiled from public sources (Wikipedia, public film databases, and similar) and is about films and public figures, not about site visitors.
